JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) – IPC Terminal Petikemas /IPC TPK Jambi Area welcomes the docking of Barge BG. MMSS 2506 as the first feeder ship on the direct route Jambi - Jakarta.
For the first time, commodities from Jambi can be exported through transhipment in Jakarta with feeder ships from shipping agent PT Pulau Laut Lines which are planned to routinely dock three times a week.
The presence of this service opens up opportunities for business actors to market products to various destination countries and encourage economic growth in Jambi province.
"In the last 29 years, export containers from Jambi have always been transhipment in Singapore before going to the destination country. For the first time, transhipment is done in Jakarta. The hope is that more operators will make direct calls to Jakarta so that there will be more connectivity for export destination countries, not only Intra Asia and the Middle East but also Europe, the Mediterranean and the USA," said Guna Mulyana, President Director of IPC TPK.
According to data from the Jambi Province Central Statistics Agency, the export value in 2024 continues to increase every month with the highest commodity being mining. From the port side, the purpose of opening this service is to grow transhipment via Jakarta and IPC TPK as a container terminal operator seeks to support the Government's initiative to make Ports in Indonesia Transhipment Hubs to destination countries.
Tug Boat TB. SPGM 1306 Barge BG. MMSS 2506 with a capacity of 250 TEUs containers as a feeder from Jambi to Jakarta which was then transported by Mother Vessel to Kwangyang, South Korea. The ship docked and departed on Monday, July 1, 2024.
The welcoming ceremony was held at the IPC TPK Area Jambi container terminal pier. Attended by Representative of Pulau Laut Lines Kristina Rajagukguk, Representative of Yang Ming Line Shipping Sopiyan Achrin Tirtana, Representative of PT Harmoni Prima Indonesia Ahmad Maulana Putra and Manager of TPK Area Jambi Wedhar Tani Aji and his staff.
"The opening of the New Feeder Service today is an achievement for us in encouraging an increase in the volume of goods from business actors in Jambi. Appreciation to IPC TPK in providing optimal service so that goods owners have certainty of goods delivery and efficient logistics costs," said Kristina, Head of the PT Pulau Laut Line Branch.
