JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - In an effort to improve occupational safety and health, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 2 is carrying out Exercise Drill K3 which is part of the company's commitment to creating a safe and healthy work environment.
Thursday (26/6/2024), at the PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 office, an Exercise Drill was carried out by the Pelindo Regional 2 HSSE team and the Pelindo Regional 2 Office emergency response team and in collaboration with the Pelindo Regional 2 Tanjung Priok Fire Department team with an earthquake simulation scenario that resulted in one of the building floors burning.
The simulation, which involved at least 50 Pelindo Regional 2 workers ranging from staff to fire fighters, aims to educate workers about appropriate evacuation procedures and emergency actions, so they can respond quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
Apart from that, this simulation can also function to review building safety by assessing the effectiveness of the evacuation plan and ensuring the estimated evacuation time so that work safety can be implemented properly.
The implementation of the K3 drill is part of the company's efforts to foster a work safety culture, especially in the port environment, as well as to increase awareness of K3 culture among workers, including Orderly Safety Patrol, Safety Drill Simulation, and Fire Management, especially in the work environment.
In this K3 Drill activity, the emergency response team trains how to handle fire using a light fire extinguisher (APAR), evacuation and rescue, coordination and communication as well as first aid in the event of an earthquake and fire.
HSSE Pelindo Regional 2 Senior Manager, Frida Ervina Sitorus, in her quote said that "Overall, this earthquake and fire simulation is an important investment in employee safety and protection of company assets. This not only helps in emergency preparedness, but also increases hazard awareness and improves response and coordination in critical situations.”
