JAKARTA (ISL News) - Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi continues to encourage improvements in digitalization services in the sea transportation sector. This was conveyed by the Minister of Transportation when opening the 2024 Directorate General of Sea Transportation Working Meeting in Jakarta, Monday (26/2/2024).
The Minister of Transportation said that the maritime transportation and logistics sector needed to improve and improve governance, especially in simplifying bureaucratic arrangements, governance rules, as well as efficiency of logistics business processes through digitalization of services. Because, implementing digitalization can make it easier for stakeholders to run their business.
"We make the system simpler, become one, don't make all the directorates create a system that makes digitalization a lot and confusing. "Do it consistently from the center, we even made a screen at the Ministry of Transportation, where people can see how sea highways and permits are managed properly," said the Minister of Transportation.
The Minister of Transportation added that the development of the maritime transportation sector has big challenges. These challenges include improving the governance of the logistics sector, optimizing Non-Tax State Revenue (PNBP), and improving the quality of human resources.
Optimization of PNBP
Then regarding the optimization of PNPB, the Minister of Transportation said that the challenges faced were not limited to how the amount of PNBP was maintained and increased, but also the quality of the types of tariffs and services to the community. Meanwhile, the realization of PNBP at the Directorate General of Sea Transportation in 2023 will reach 112.83% or IDR 4.9T of the APBN target of IDR 4.4T.
"I ask all work units to improve and evaluate the implementation of PNBP collection, as well as the potential that has not been collected so that it can increase state income," said the Minister of Transportation.
Regarding the quality of human resources, the Minister of Transportation said that the Directorate General of Maritime Transportation carries out strategic programs and has a total of 13,281 employees, so that there is a need for equal competency improvement for human resources at the head office and UPT. Currently, the distribution of human resources with the required educational qualifications is not evenly distributed, especially in UPTs in the Eastern Indonesia region. Therefore, it is necessary to prioritize HR development programs through online and offline technical and managerial training programs.
The Sea Transportation Working Meeting has the theme "With Collaboration and Synergy, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation is Optimistic about Realizing Reliable Sea Transportation to Support Advanced Indonesia". The working meeting is expected to build a common understanding, handle problems and dynamics of the shipping business, as well as evaluate performance in the context of making decisions and policies in the field of maritime transportation.
Also present at the activity were members of Echelon I of the Ministry of Transportation and the Head of UPT within the Directorate General of Sea Transportation.
