SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) in collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University (FK UNAIR) held a Community Service Program in the form of free health checks for container truck drivers who are users of TPS services.
The activity was carried out on Sunday (1/11/2026) at the TPS Export and Import Shelter as a form of concern for the health of work partners who play an important role in supporting the smooth flow of logistics at Tanjung Perak Port.
This program, part of the Airlangga Medical Scientific Week (AMSW) 2026 series of activities, offers free general health and dental checkups. These tests include blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and uric acid levels, as well as dental health screenings. The program is conducted by students from the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University (FK UNAIR) and the Faculty of Dentistry, Airlangga University, under the supervision of professional healthcare professionals.
Through this activity, TPS and FK UNAIR strive to raise awareness among truck drivers about the importance of maintaining good health, given that this profession requires high mobility and is a vital element in the national logistics supply chain. In addition to receiving health check-ups, participants also received education on healthy lifestyles and early prevention of various non-communicable diseases.
TPS President Director, Ali Sodikin, said that this program is a manifestation of the company's commitment to creating a logistics ecosystem that focuses not only on operational aspects, but also on the welfare of all stakeholders involved in the terminal service process.
"Truck drivers play a strategic role in supporting the smooth distribution of goods and the flow of containers. Therefore, their health is a shared concern. TPS welcomes the collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine, Airlangga University, in providing this free healthcare service as a form of concern for service users and an effort to promote a healthy lifestyle in the logistics and port environment," said Also, as he is familiarly known.
In addition to community service activities, AMSW 2026 participants also participated in educational visits to TPS to gain insight into container terminal operations, the implementation of Occupational Safety and Health (K3), and the strategic role of ports in supporting national logistics connectivity and international trade.
TPS hopes that collaborative activities with educational institutions like Airlangga University can continue to develop, providing tangible benefits to the community, education, and the port industry. Synergy between academia and the business world is expected to support the improvement of human resource quality while encouraging the creation of a healthy, safe, and productive work environment.
