BLITAR (ISL News) – PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (PTP) held the Pelita Warna Program through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) initiative at the Class I Special Child Development Institution (LPKA) in Blitar, East Java, on October 27–30, 2026. This program aims to provide knowledge, psychosocial assistance, and practical skills for foster children in preparation for returning to society.
Fajar Setyono, Corporate Secretary of PT Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, stated that every child has the potential to grow and develop. Support for education and skills development is crucial in providing them with opportunities to build a better life.
"We believe that every child has the opportunity to improve themselves and achieve a better future. Through the Pelita Warna Program, we want to provide a learning space that not only provides knowledge but also builds self-confidence as they return to society," said Fajar.
In this program, 160 foster children participated in outreach activities that focused on two main aspects. First, legal training covering an understanding of children's rights and obligations, rehabilitation and social adaptation, and the basics of contract law in everyday life. Second, psychosocial guidance to support emotional management, self-control, non-violent problem-solving, and readiness to return to society.
In addition to these outreach activities, 30 selected foster children participated in intensive four-day practical skills training divided into three areas: barbering, agriculture, and handicrafts. Participants in this practical training were assessed based on their good behavior, as well as their interests and passion for the chosen field. This aims to ensure that the skills acquired can be directly applied as a source of income or capital for independence outside the LPKA.
Fajar added that this empowerment program is part of the company's ongoing commitment. "We hope that the skills acquired will not stop after this activity is over. The children can continue learning, honing their skills, and have broader options for independent living," he added.
The Head of the Class I Blitar Child Protection and Rehabilitation Center, Jaka Prihatin, welcomed the collaboration between the business community and the development process. He stated that child development requires a comprehensive approach that encompasses character building and practical skills development.
"Children in LPKA still have the right to education and opportunities for personal development. This support is crucial for motivating them to change and prepare for a better future," said Jaka.
As a form of long-term support, Pelindo Terminal Petikemas also provided practical equipment that can be used by LPKA Class I Blitar to continue its independence development activities on an ongoing basis.
