SURABAYA (ISL News) – PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) once again recorded positive operational performance in September 2026. International container throughput reached 120,725 TEUs, with total international and domestic container throughput reaching 122,876 TEUs. This achievement demonstrates TPS's consistency in maintaining the smooth flow of national logistics amidst the dynamics of global trade.
Operationally, TPS has successfully maintained competitive ship loading and unloading productivity. Box Ship Hour (BSH) productivity on international services averaged 51 boxes/ship/hour, exceeding the minimum standard of 48 boxes/ship/hour set by the Ministry of Transportation through the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority Office (KSOP). This performance is supported by continuous optimization of equipment and operational processes.
TPS also recorded 87 international ship calls during September 2026. On the other hand, the international Yard Occupancy Ratio (YOR) in September 2026 remained below 40% (exports = 36.48% and imports = 39.29%), reflecting the effectiveness of yard management and TPS's readiness to support the smooth flow of containers and maintain the reliability of operational services.
In line with efforts to increase capacity and service quality, TPS continues to optimize the use of modern, electrically powered equipment already in operation, including the Electric Quay Container Crane (E-QCC) and Electric Rubber Tyred Gantry (E-RTG). This equipment modernization is part of the company's commitment to increasing productivity while supporting more environmentally friendly operations.
TPS President Director, Ali Sodikin, stated that the achievement in September 2026 demonstrated the resilience and trust of service users in TPS services.
"The maintained container flow in September 2026 demonstrates TPS's ability to provide reliable, efficient, and sustainable operational services. The dominance of exports over imports is a positive indication that international trade activity remains dynamic. TPS will continue to improve service quality and operational productivity, while strengthening its role as the primary logistics gateway in Eastern Indonesia," he said.
