SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) launched the “Lamong Cukur” program, a Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) innovation that combines skills training, job creation, and service provision for service users in the terminal environment.
This program is primarily aimed at Ring 1 communities, or those living near the company's operational areas. Through Lamong Cukur, TTL not only provides barbershop skills training but also creates real-world job opportunities, equipping participants with the necessary skills to work or develop their own businesses.
Lamong Cukur is designed as a sustainable program to promote community economic independence. This initiative also aligns with Danantara's commitment to promoting quality job creation through competency development and community empowerment.
In addition to its social impact, Lamong Cukur's presence also provides added value for service users and truck drivers operating at Teluk Lamong Terminal. While waiting for service or resting, they can utilize the barber service, allowing them to use their waiting time more productively.
The Lamong Cukur program series began with training on August 10–12, 2026. Participants received training in shaving techniques ranging from basic skills to barbershop service standards.
To strengthen these skills, participants will then participate in an internship program at a professional barbershop through September 2026. This program provides hands-on work experience while strengthening technical skills, customer service skills, discipline, and career readiness.
Through this series of training and internships, participants from the Ring 1 community were successfully recruited as barbers at Lamong Cukur. This demonstrates that the CSR program can have a concrete impact, from improving skills to creating job opportunities for the surrounding community.
The President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, David Pandapotan Sirait, said that community empowerment must be directed at programs that can provide sustainable benefits.
"The most important thing is how the skills provided can open up opportunities for people to create, work, or become independent entrepreneurs. We want the TJSL program to go beyond training and truly create economic opportunities," said David.
According to David, Lamong Cukur is a form of TTL's commitment to presenting TJSL programs that are relevant to the needs of the community while providing benefits to the terminal ecosystem.
"Going forward, we will continue to map the potential and needs of the surrounding community. If this program develops well and the need is there, Lamong Cukur can be expanded to other locations so that its benefits can reach more people," he added.
Asemrowo Sub-district Head, Zul Chaidir, also appreciated PT Terminal Teluk Lamong's initiative in providing direct benefits to the surrounding community.
"We express our gratitude to PT Terminal Teluk Lamong for its numerous contributions to the community, including job creation, skills development, and other empowerment programs. We hope this synergy between the company, the government, and the community will continue," said Zul Chaidir.
Through various sustainable TJSL programs, PT Terminal Teluk Lamong continues to strive to present innovations that are relevant to the needs of the community and service users, while strengthening the company's contribution in creating social and economic added value around its operational areas.
