MENPAWAH (ISL News) - For some students, ports may be known as places where ships arrive and depart, and where goods move from one region to another. However, behind these activities lies a variety of professions, skills, technologies, and opportunities that can be part of the career paths of young people.

The selection of Mempawah Regency as the location for Pelindo Mengajar is relevant to the development of the Kijing Terminal, which is driving the growth of economic, logistics, and industrial activities in the surrounding area. The presence of the port opens up broader career opportunities for the younger generation, not only in the port sector, but also in logistics, transportation, warehousing, manufacturing, technology, and services. Therefore, PTP Nonpetikemas sees the importance of introducing these various opportunities early on so that Mempawah students can understand their region's potential and prepare the competencies to take part in the region's future development.

This insight was brought to PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP) Non-container through its Pelindo Mengajar 2026 Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program at SMKN 1 Mempawah Hilir, Mempawah Regency, West Kalimantan, on Tuesday (October 6). Through this program, students were invited to learn more about the world of ports and gain an overview of the world of work and various professional opportunities within it.

Indra Hidayat Sani, President Director of PTP Nonpetikemas, was present as a guest speaker and shared his experiences on his career path, the professional world, and developments in the port and logistics industry. During the session, students not only received material but also had the opportunity to discuss and ask questions about the world of work and the future.

Indra said that the experience of interacting directly with the industrial world is important to help students see that future choices are not limited to what they are currently familiar with.

"Through Pelindo Mengajar, we want students to gain a deeper understanding of the world of ports and to see that behind the activities of a port lies a multitude of professions, skills, and opportunities. We hope the experiences shared will broaden their horizons, empowering them to dream boldly and prepare for their future," said Indra.

According to Indra, entering the ever-evolving world of work requires more than just academic skills. The ability to communicate, collaborate, adapt to technology, and a willingness to continuously learn are also crucial assets for the younger generation.

"Every student has the opportunity to determine their future. Therefore, continuing to learn, building competencies, maintaining character, and having the courage to try are crucial. Don't be afraid to have big dreams," added Indra.

For students of SMKN 1 Mempawah Hilir, the meeting with PTP Nonpetikemas staff was an opportunity to see the relationship between learning at school and the professional world more closely.

One of the students, Bilqis, admitted to gaining new insights into the world of ports and various professions that she had not previously known much about.

"Previously, I didn't know much about port jobs and activities. After participating in Pelindo Mengajar, I learned that there are many fields and professions to learn. This activity also motivated me to learn and prepare for the future," said Bilqis.

The principal of SMKN 1 Mempawah Hilir, Bambang Juwarno, S.Pd., appreciated the presence of Pelindo Mengajar which provided an opportunity for students to interact directly with practitioners from the industrial world.

"This is an excellent opportunity for our students and aligns with the school's "Guest Teacher" program. They can hear firsthand the experiences of a company leader and learn about the challenges and opportunities in the industrial world. We hope today's experience will motivate students to become more confident in developing their potential and achieving success," said Bambang.

The Acting Head of the Mempawah Regency Education and Culture Office, represented by Apriandi, echoed this sentiment. He stated that the involvement of the industrial sector in providing students with insights can strengthen the connection between education and the needs of the workforce.

"Synergy like this is crucial for strengthening the relationship between education and industry. Students gain firsthand insights from practitioners, enabling them to see the connection between school learning and the needs and developments of the workplace," said Apriandi.

Pelindo Mengajar 2026 at SMKN 1 Mempawah Hilir was attended by 150 students. In addition to sharing insights on ports and the world of work, the event also included a question-and-answer session and student interaction.

The presence of PTP Non-container also comes with concrete support for education. Through the CSR program, the company provided educational support facilities and infrastructure to SMKN 1 Mempawah Hilir, which is expected to support teaching and learning activities at the school.

PTP Nonpetikemas also provided educational support tools in the form of mobile phones (HP) to two high-achieving students from underprivileged families to support their learning needs.

Indra said the support was part of an effort to provide broader benefits through Pelindo Mengajar.

"We hope this assistance can be utilized optimally to support the learning process. The achievements we've achieved should motivate us to continue developing and open up broader opportunities in the future," said Indra.

The Pelindo Mengajar program is part of Pelindo's CSR (Corporate Social and Environmental Responsibility) implementation in the education sector. This program provides a meeting place for Pelindo employees and the younger generation to share knowledge, experiences, and inspiration, while also providing tangible support for education.

The implementation of Pelindo Mengajar is also in line with Asta Cita, especially the fourth point regarding strengthening human resource development, science, technology, and education, as well as supporting the government's efforts in preparing the generation towards Golden Indonesia 2045.

Through Pelindo Mengajar, PTP Nonpetikemas hopes that more students will become familiar with the world of ports, understand the diverse opportunities within it, and have the courage to expand their aspirations. After all, ports not only transport goods and people to various destinations, but also knowledge, experience, and hope, fostering the birth of Indonesia's golden generation.
