SURABAYA (ISL News) – In commemoration of Customer Month, which is celebrated every September, PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) held an Operational Business Socialization event for members of the East Java branch of the Indonesian National Importers Association (GINSI). The event, which took place on Thursday (September 10) in the Toba Room of TPS, was attended by 85 members of GINSI East Java and served as a forum for sharing information and strengthening communication between the terminal and service users.

Embracing the spirit of Customer Month, TPS presented speakers from within the Tanjung Perak Customs and Excise Office and the East Java Fish, Animal, and Plant Quarantine Office. The presence of these three institutions reflected the synergy between port, customs, and quarantine services, which are crucial for the smooth flow of imported goods through the port.

In the socialization, participants gained a comprehensive understanding of the operational business processes of imports at the TPS, starting from preparation for container unloading, discharge and delivery processes , service submission mechanisms through digital platforms, to various inspection procedures involving customs and quarantine authorities. The material also included an explanation of the flow of physical behandle services, joint inspections , X-Ray examinations, and various quarantine services such as Direct Behandle Quarantine, Yard Behandle Quarantine , fumigation and inspection of salted raw hides.

Through this activity, importers gain a more comprehensive understanding of the interrelationships between the terminal, Customs, and Quarantine processes. A thorough understanding of each service stage is expected to help service users plan import activities more effectively, improve regulatory compliance, and streamline the process of releasing goods from the port.

TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, said that this activity is part of TPS's commitment to continuously improve service quality and strengthen relationships with customers.

"Customer Month is a momentum for TPS to get closer to its service users and build a shared understanding of operational business processes at the terminal. Through this outreach, we aim to provide comprehensive information regarding services involving TPS, Customs, and Quarantine so that service users can understand the overall process flow and make optimal use of available services," said Erika.

According to Erika, strong collaboration between agencies is a crucial factor in creating efficient, transparent logistics services that provide certainty to customers.

"The presence of Tanjung Perak Customs and Excise and the East Java Fish, Animal, and Plant Quarantine Agency at this event demonstrates our shared commitment to building service synergy. We hope the communication established through this forum will strengthen coordination with importers and support the smooth flow of goods and the national supply chain," he added.

As a container terminal serving international and domestic trade flows, TPS consistently strives to provide excellent service focused on customer needs. Through regular educational and outreach activities, TPS hopes to enhance the customer experience while supporting the creation of a more integrated and competitive logistics ecosystem.
