JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, is promoting collaboration on vehicle emission control in the Tanjung Priok Port area, North Jakarta. This effort aims to support more environmentally friendly transportation and logistics activities.
One of the measures taken was a vehicle emissions check, which took place on Jalan Masjid Khodamuttaqwa, Tanjung Priok Port, on Thursday (August 13, 2026). This activity was part of the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) Program to commemorate the 81st Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia.
Indonesian Deputy Minister of Transportation, Commissioner General of Police (Ret.) Drs. Suntana, M.Sc., stated that controlling emissions in the transportation and port sectors requires the involvement of all parties. He stated that environmental issues cannot be resolved solely by the government or port operators.
"Protecting the environment is not just the responsibility of Pelindo or the government, but the obligation of all of us. Therefore, I appreciate Pelindo's steps in checking vehicle emissions and encouraging various innovations to reduce environmental impact. This effort must be a joint effort by all parties in the transportation and port ecosystem to achieve a cleaner and more sustainable environment," said Suntana.
Drajat Sulistyo, Deputy President Director of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), stated that reducing emissions must be part of developing a sustainable logistics ecosystem. He stated that ensuring the smooth flow of goods must go hand in hand with efforts to maintain environmental quality.
"Emission reduction is a shared responsibility. No single institution can solve environmental challenges alone. Therefore, collaboration is key to building a collective movement, ensuring that all parties operating in the port area share a commitment to creating a more efficient, low-emission, and sustainable logistics system," said Drajat.
The emissions check lasted one hour. The series of activities included a review of the emissions testing area, a vehicle inspection, and the symbolic presentation of the certificate.
Pelindo considers emissions checks to be one step in raising awareness among vehicle users in port areas. With the high volume of vehicles supporting loading and unloading and distribution of goods, vehicle condition is a crucial aspect to consider in efforts to reduce emissions.
Emission control is also part of Pelindo's efforts to maintain a balance between operational smoothness and environmental sustainability. As a key port in the national logistics network, Tanjung Priok Port's transportation activities involve various parties, including terminal operators, transportation companies, service users, and other stakeholders.
Therefore, efforts to maintain air quality in port areas require consistent action. Pelindo encourages vehicle inspections and maintenance to become a shared responsibility, ensuring logistics activities remain efficient while maintaining environmental awareness.
Through collaboration with the government, business actors, and other stakeholders, Pelindo is committed to continuing to encourage port management that takes into account economic, social, and environmental aspects.
