JAKARTA (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero), or Pelindo, and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are exploring opportunities for collaboration in port infrastructure investment, terminal management, service digitalization, human resource development, and direct shipping connectivity between the two countries. These collaboration opportunities were discussed during a visit by the Minister of Transportation and Logistics Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and his delegation to the Pelindo Maritime Museum at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, on Tuesday (July 14).

The visit by the Minister of Transportation and Logistics Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and the Saudi Arabian delegation was welcomed by Pelindo President Director Achmad Muchtasyar, along with the Pelindo board of directors and management. This meeting served as an opportunity to strengthen relations between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia and explore the potential for strategic partnerships in developing the port and logistics sectors.

The Minister of Transportation and Logistics Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, said that the visit provided an opportunity for the Saudi Arabian delegation to see firsthand the management of one of Indonesia's main ports and learn about the development of the national maritime industry.

"The relationship between Saudi Arabia and Indonesia has been very close. We want to learn more about Indonesia's maritime industry, particularly port management, and explore various collaboration opportunities that could benefit both countries," said Al-Jasser.

According to him, Saudi Arabia and Indonesia are two G20 member countries with strategic positions in the maritime and logistics sectors. Both countries also actively collaborate in various international forums, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO), thus providing ample scope for developing collaboration in the port and logistics sectors.

Al-Jasser added that the Saudi Arabian delegation also included representatives from Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT), one of the port terminal operators in Saudi Arabia, as well as representatives from maritime transportation authorities to explore opportunities for further cooperation with Pelindo.

Pelindo President Director Achmad Muchtasyar welcomed the potential for this collaboration. He stated that the relationship between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia has a strong foundation to develop into a strategic partnership in the maritime sector.

"We welcome the visit of the Saudi Arabian delegation as a step to strengthen collaboration in the port and logistics sector. Pelindo is ready to be a strategic partner in supporting trade connectivity between the two countries by developing modern, integrated, and competitive port services," said Achmad.

Achmad explained that Pelindo continues to implement transformation through operational integration, service digitalization, and the development of international-standard infrastructure. These steps are aimed at improving national logistics efficiency while strengthening the competitiveness of Indonesian ports globally.

"We are also open to collaboration opportunities in developing direct shipping connectivity and investment in several strategic ports managed by Pelindo. This synergy is expected to strengthen the supply chain and support increased trade flows between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia," he added.

As part of the visit, the Minister of Transportation and Logistics Services of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, and his delegation also visited the Planning and Control (P&C) room of Tanjung Priok Port to directly review the planning and control of operational services and the optimization of ship berthing schedules which are carried out in real-time.

Through this visit, Pelindo hopes that the exploration that has been carried out can be followed up into concrete cooperation to strengthen the logistics system, encourage investment, and increase connectivity and trade between Indonesia and Saudi Arabia.
