Pelindo Jasa Maritim Or SPJM Strengthens Commitment to Maritime Safety

MAKASSAR (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (SPJM), a subholding of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) which operates in the fields of Marine, Equipment, Port Services, Dredging, and Shipyard (MEPS), continues to strengthen its commitment to improving national shipping safety standards through the holding of a Sharing Session on Shipping Operational Safety and Security which was held at the Unigraha Hotel, Kerinci, on April 16, 2026.


This activity presented speakers from the Directorate General of Sea Transportation (Ditjen Hubla) who delivered comprehensive strategic material related to shipping safety.


The speakers present included Dr. Capt. Anthony Arif Priadi, M.Sc, as the Minister's Expert Staff for Technology and Energy, who discussed IMO Circular 1050 (17), in addition, Capt. Maltus Jackline Kapistrano, S.SIT., M.Si, as Head of the Ship Safety Sub-Directorate, delivered material related to ship safety aspects, and Capt. Hasan Sadili, S.SIT., M.Mar, as Head of the Maritime Affairs Sub-Directorate, who discussed ship manning. Meanwhile, Dr. Capt. Miftakhul Hadi, S.ST., MM., M.Mar, as Head of the PMKK (Ship Pollution and Safety Management) Sub-Directorate, delivered material on ship safety management.


The presence of these speakers provided comprehensive reinforcement, covering regulatory aspects, operational techniques, and the implementation of shipping safety in the field. This activity is a strategic step in responding to the high level of maritime logistics activity, particularly in the operational areas of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), necessitating strengthening safety, operational reliability, and alignment of service standards.


This activity was officially opened by the Senior Vice President of SPJM Ship Operations, Mr. Didik Sutrisno, and attended by KSOP Class II Tanjung Buton, KSOP Pekanbaru, Management of PT Riau Andalan Pulp and Paper (RAPP), representatives of shipping agents , field operational teams, and internal Pelindo Group.


The SPJM encourages strengthened cross-agency coordination, alignment of operational standards, and increased compliance with safety regulations to minimize potential operational risks in the field. Shipping safety is a key foundation in ensuring the sustainability of maritime services. "Shipping safety must be an integrated work culture in every operational line. Synergy between operators, regulators, and all stakeholders is key to realizing safe, reliable, and global-standard services," said Tubagus Patrick, Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretary of SPJM, quoting the Senior Vice President of Ship Operations of SPJM.


As part of the Pelindo Group's transformation, SPJM consistently prioritizes operational excellence through strengthening operational systems, improving human resource competencies, and implementing safety standards that are adaptive to the dynamics of the maritime industry. This activity is expected to provide a real contribution to improving shipping safety, operational efficiency, and the quality of national port services.
