Pelindo Marine Strengthens Pilot Boat Fleet in Tarakan and Tenggarong

TENGGARONG KALIMANTAN ISL News) - PT Pelindo Marine Service (Pelindo Marine) is strengthening its operational fleet by optimizing the operations of two new pilot vessels, MP. Mandalika 01 and MP. Mandalika 02, which are now officially operating in the Kalimantan region.


The MP. Mandalika 01 is equipped with a 115 x 2 horsepower engine and is stationed in Tenggarong, East Kalimantan, while the MP. Mandalika 02 has a 200 x 2 horsepower engine and operates in Tarakan, North Kalimantan. Both are made of fiberglass and manufactured by national shipyards, designed to support optimal pilot mobility, improve operational safety, and support the smooth running of pilotage activities in their respective regions.


In an effort to strengthen the smooth flow of national logistics, the Director of Commercial, Operations, and Engineering of PT Pelindo Marine Service, Elvin Syah Putra, emphasized the company's commitment to continuously improving the quality of pilotage services in various waters in Indonesia. "This vessel is designed according to the needs of the characteristics of the waters in each region that have different geographical challenges. Its technical specifications are very appropriate to support the mobility of pilotage officers so that it can support the smooth flow of national logistics," said Elvin.


PT Pelindo Marine Service Senior Technical Manager, Yohannes Lianto, explained that the construction of the two vessels was carried out at the national shipyard owned by PT Pelindo Solusi Maritim and has met the facilities and infrastructure requirements of the Ministry of Transportation. "The construction of these vessels not only reflects the synergy between Pelindo entities, but also ensures that all specifications and standards are in accordance with the provisions of the Ministry of Transportation, so that they are ready to support operations in the field," said Yohannes.


In Tenggarong, the arrival of MP. Manadalika 01 was welcomed positively by the Assistant Regional Manager of Samarinda, Rasyidin. According to him, ship classification activities in Tenggarong waters require adequate fleet support. "With the addition of MP. Mandalika 01, the pilotage process, especially for coal-laden vessels, can run more optimally, both in terms of smoothness and operational safety," Rasyidin explained.


Meanwhile, in Tarakan, the addition of the MP. Mandalika 02 has increased the fleet's readiness to handle the intense pilotage traffic involving various types of vessels and cargo. Tarakan Regional Administration Staff, Imam Mahyudin, stated that the vessel's presence significantly enhances daily operations. "MP. Mandalika 02 complements our existing fleet and enhances our readiness to handle the high volume of pilotage traffic, including container ships, coal vessels, and tankers," he said.
