SURABAYA (ISL News, 24/2/2026) – PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS), a subsidiary of Subholding Pelindo Terminal Petikemas (SPTP), has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting the implementation of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles by handing over operational vehicles to the “Gotong Royong” Waste Bank in RW 03, Perak Barat Subdistrict, Surabaya.
The operational waste collection vehicles donated to the Gotong Royong Waste Bank represent a tangible demonstration of the TPS's collaboration with its service users to strengthen the sustainability of community-based waste management. This support is the result of the collaborative effort of the Fun Trekking Move with Purpose initiative , held to commemorate the TPS's 26th anniversary in 2025. Every kilometer traveled by participants was converted into funds to be used for environmental conservation activities.
Through the spirit of TPS ESG Journey with Customer , every step taken together is now presented in the form of concrete support that has a direct impact on residents. The presence of this operational vehicle is expected to facilitate the process of collecting sorted waste from house to house, or waste bank customers outside of residents' homes, expand the reach of pick-up services from customers to the Waste Bank at the RT level, and expedite waste distribution to storage warehouses. With increasingly optimal operations, the Gotong Royong Waste Bank is expected to increase the volume of managed sorted waste while creating economic value and broader environmental benefits.
TPS Corporate Secretary, Erika Asih Palupi, said that this support is part of the company's ongoing commitment to implementing the Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program, particularly in the environmental pillar.
"The handover of these operational vehicles is a continuation of the ESG Journey spirit we are building with our customers and stakeholders. We hope this facility will further strengthen the capacity of the Gotong Royong Waste Bank as a space for growth and collaboration toward more modern, productive, environmentally friendly, and sustainable waste management ," he said.
He further emphasized that each ESG Journey series does not stop at being a symbol of commitment, but continues to strive to become a real action whose impact can be directly felt by the environment and communities surrounding the port.
“Together with our customers and the community, we want to grow more acts of kindness—keeping the sky blue and the environment green ,” Erika added.
The Gotong Royong Waste Bank itself is the result of a collaboration between TPS and the Pelindo Terminal Petikemas subholding, initiated in 2024 through participatory dialogue with residents. This program continues to be strengthened through the provision of warehouse facilities, press equipment, waste management training, and integration with the Waste Management System (SIKELAPA) application.
With the support of these operational vehicles, the waste management program in RW 3 Perak Barat is expected to grow further, not only improving environmental quality but also opening up opportunities for sustainable economic benefits for the community. This collaboration demonstrates that the TPS ESG journey grows through collaboration—from shared steps to shared impacts.
