JAKARTA (ISL News) - Entering the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year (Nataru) holiday season, PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo ensures the readiness of passenger terminal facilities and infrastructure managed by the company throughout Indonesia. A total of 63 terminals have been prepared to provide optimal service to the public during the 2025/2026 Nataru period, in line with the spirit of "Nataru Holidays, Bring Goodness, Strengthen Hope."
"The company is focusing on improving facilities such as passenger waiting rooms, restrooms, lactation rooms, health services, prayer rooms, information centers, and check-in counters to ensure passenger comfort and safety. The dock area is also ready to accommodate passenger ships in accordance with enhanced operating standards," said Ali Sodikin, Group Head of Pelindo's Corporate Secretariat.
In addition, Pelindo has implemented automatic gates equipped with CCTV at most passenger terminals, for both passengers and vehicles. This step makes the process of entering and exiting the port area faster, more orderly, and more system-monitored.
Pelindo also intensively coordinates with various port stakeholders through the integrated Nataru Transportation Post to monitor and regulate passenger flow, including checking travel requirements and providing information for port visitors.
In preparation for the anticipated surge in passengers during the peak of the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year holiday season, Pelindo has prepared additional facilities such as tents and extra waiting room chairs as well as portable toilets, added check-in counters and strengthened baggage screening and security by officers.
"As a preventative measure to maintain our zero accident target, we are implementing safety management walkthroughs with relevant maritime agencies in the port sector, including inspections and monitoring equipment maintenance in the passenger terminal area. These measures are also supported by the preparation of emergency facilities, including firefighting equipment, a health room with on-call health workers, and the publication of important information in the passenger terminal area," Ali added.
As part of its efforts to support the government's program to ensure smooth transportation during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year period, Pelindo is also preparing Ciwandan Port in Banten as a backup to reduce queue congestion at the Merak-Bakauheni ferry port. Pelindo is also waiving port service fees for inter-island ferry vessels from Java to Sumatra during the 2025/2026 Christmas and New Year period at Ciwandan Port, including pilotage, tug, mooring, docking, and port pass services, to support the smooth operation of safe and smooth passenger flow services.
"Pelindo has ensured comprehensive improvements in service quality and technical preparations. These efforts reflect the company's commitment to providing the best possible service to its customers, while ensuring the public enjoys a safe, comfortable, and memorable Christmas and New Year holiday," Ali concluded.
