PONTIANAK (ISL News) - IPC Terminal Petikemasi (IPC TPK) Pontianak recorded a 14.3% increase in operational performance in October 2025 compared to the same period in 2024. Operational volume reached 26,275 TEUs, up from 22,994 TEUs in October last year. This achievement confirms the positive growth trend of the largest container terminal in West Kalimantan.
"This increase proves that our main strength lies in our productivity in the field. By increasing the number of calls handled, we want to ensure the smooth flow of logistics in West Kalimantan remains stable," said M. Loutfie Hidayat, Manager of IPC TPK Pontianak Area.
Performance growth was driven by a 24% increase in the number of 40-foot containers, a 611 TEUs per call , and an additional 14 calls from one of the shipping lines in October 2025.
Citing data from the West Kalimantan Statistics Agency (BPS), exports in September 2025 actually experienced a sharp decline of up to 71%, from USD 222.93 million in 2024 to USD 63.22 million in 2025. However, imports increased slightly by 0.3%.
An interesting contrast emerged, while trade activity appeared sluggish in September, port performance rebounded in October, driven by increased container throughput, primarily from the domestic logistics sector and shipments of consumer and manufactured goods.
"Amidst declining export trends, port operations must be a driving force, not simply a follower of the market. We are committed to boosting logistics performance to help West Kalimantan's trade recover," Loutfie concluded.
