VIETNAM (ISL News) - PT Pelindo Jasa Maritim (SPJM) as one of the Subholdings of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) as one of the subholdings of PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) which operates in the fields of Marine, Equipment, Port Services, Dredging and Shipyard (MEPS) actively participated in the 4th Asia Pacific Maritime Pilots' Association Forum (APMPF) which is an agenda organized by the Asia Pacific Maritime Pilots Association and located in Da Nang, Vietnam.

The forum, which was held for 2 (two) days, from September 4-6, 2025, was attended by approximately 16 (sixteen) countries and took the theme "Enhancing Maritime Safety and Efficiency in the Asia-Pacific Region" . Among the participants who attended this forum were guides, maritime experts, stakeholders, and policymakers from various countries who would discuss, share experiences, share information on the application of the latest technology, and strengthen good relations and professional networks across countries.

On this occasion, Syamsul Maarif, a senior SPJM guide and currently serving as Senior Manager of Region 3 SPJM, explained the procedures for cruise ship visits at the Ports of Bali and Nusa Tenggara, this topic was chosen by SPJM as part of the marine safety campaign which is also in line with this year's APMPF theme. In his presentation, Syamsul Maarif explained the operational procedures for cruise ships, including mobilization of guides, mooring activities, embarkation and disembarkation of passengers by taking service locations at 4 (four) ports, namely: Benoa Bali, Celukan Bawang North Bali, Lembar Lombok, and Tenau Kupang.

Through this presentation, SPJM aims to promote cruise ship service procedures at several Indonesian ports, prioritizing safety and internationally recognized service standards. Furthermore, it aims to encourage the international community to be more aware of service procedures to prevent untoward incidents during ship operations at ports.

Senior Vice President of Corporate Secretary of SPJM, Tubagus Patrick stated, "As an archipelagic country with a rich and diverse culture, Indonesia is a destination for cruise ships from various parts of the world. This is an opportunity for us to introduce culture while improving the tourism sector and the local community economy. Therefore, with SPJM's involvement in the 4th APMPF event, we want to demonstrate and socialize our service standard procedures as well as demonstrate our commitment to service safety."

As is known, Benoa Bali, Celukan Bawang North Bali, Lembar Lombok, and Tenau Kupang are ports in Indonesia that have different characteristics including in terms of shipping lanes, jetty lengths and anchorage depths so that standardized procedures and berthing mechanisms are needed to facilitate ship activities. In addition, Benoa Bali Port is currently being developed into a major hubport (main supporting seaport) for cruise ships in Bali and is known as the Bali Maritime Tourism Hub (BMTH). BMTH itself is a national strategic project that integrates the tourism, port, and entertainment sectors to support regional and national economic growth.
