
PALEMBANG INDONESIA (ISL News) - South Sumatra coffee exports are currently an important milestone in efforts to increase the competitiveness of local products in the international market and encourage regional economic growth through the coffee plantation sector in South Sumatra Province.
In this regard, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok or PTP Nonpetikemas Palembang Branch collaborated with PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero)/ Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang to support the initial export of South Sumatra coffee to Australia and Malaysia through the South Sumatra Financial Services Industry Ecosystem in 2025.
As is known, South Sumatra Province, which has been known as one of the largest coffee producing areas in Indonesia since 2014, finally on January 19, 2025 succeeded in carrying out direct exports in large quantities through the Boom Baru Port.
A total of 59.4 tons of coffee beans were exported in this activity, which was initiated by the Financial Services Authority (OJK) of South Sumatra Province together with the South Sumatra Provincial Government and the Joint Secretariat for Regional Economic and Financial Development of South Sumatra Province. This step aims to boost the economy, especially for coffee farmers in the area.
Branch Manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Palembang Branch Ade Affandi said that, as part of its commitment to support regional economic growth, PTP Nonpetikemas Palembang Branch also played a key role in supporting the first export of South Sumatra coffee to Australia and Malaysia by providing maximum and smooth prime services.
"The export involving 59.4 tons of coffee beans through the Boom Baru Port is a strategic step for the company in strengthening the distribution network and boosting the local economy. The inaugural coffee export event was attended by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority of the Republic of Indonesia, Mahendra Siregar, and the Acting Governor of South Sumatra, Elen Setiadi, SH, MSE. Also present was the Head of the OJK Office of South Sumatra Province, Arifin Susanto. In addition to government officials, the export event was also attended by various elements of the South Sumatra Forkopimda, including the South Sumatra Police Chief represented by the Director of Special Crimes, the Commander of the Palembang Navy Base, and representatives from the South Sumatra Animal, Fish, and Plant Quarantine Center.
Also present were the Head of the BPKP Representative Office of South Sumatra Province, the Head of the Central Statistics Agency of South Sumatra Province, and representatives from Customs and Excise, the Directorate General of Treasury, and the Satpolairud Polresbates Palembang. Representatives from Pelindo and the Branch Manager of PTP Nonpetikemas Palembang Branch Ade Affandi also participated in supporting the smooth running of this event.
The operational area of PTP Nonpetikemas Palembang Branch is in Boom Baru Port, Palembang. This port has a very important role for the Regional Government of South Sumatra Province and especially for the people of Palembang City and its surroundings because it is a port that is used for loading and unloading activities of goods in large quantities.
PTP Nonpetikemas operates a multipurpose terminal that serves various types of dry bulk, liquid bulk, and general cargo commodities. Dry bulk commodities include fertilizer, oil cake, and cement. Liquid bulk commodities include CPO, asphalt, caustic soda. As for general cargo, the commodities handled are heavy equipment, project cargo, rubber, cars, and so on.
In addition to the Boom Baru Port of Palembang, PTP Nonpetikemas also operates a multipurpose terminal located at the Sungai Lais Port, Palembang. At this port, PTP Nonpetikemas serves various types of dry bulk and liquid bulk commodities. Dry bulk commodities include cement, fertilizer, and split stone. Liquid bulk commodities include CPO and HSD.
