JAKARTA TANJUNG PRIOK (ISL News) - IPC Terminal Petikemas/IPC TPK, a subsidiary of Pelindo Terminal Petikemas, held an IMDG Code Training and Certification Program at the Port in accordance with the IMO Model Course 1.10. This activity was carried out in order to implement the Minister of Transportation Regulation No. 16 of 2021 concerning Procedures for Handling and Transporting Dangerous Goods at the Port and to improve the understanding of operational officers for Handling and Transporting Dangerous Goods at the Port.
This activity was opened by Capt. Renaldo Sjukri, Head of Disaster Management and Underwater Works Sub-Directorate of KPLP representing the Director of KPLP and Yanuar Evyanto, Director of Finance, HR & Risk Management of IPC TPK. In his speech, Yanuar said that this activity is the company's effort to provide optimal service to service users. One of them is ensuring the competence of HR in handling and transporting dangerous goods at the Port.
This activity was attended by Yudi Ratnanto, Head of the Port Supervision Section of KSOP Tanjung Priok who gave directions representing KSOP Tanjung Priok, representatives of KSOP Tanjung Priok, Ahmad Mimbar, Director of Operations & Engineering of IPC TPK, IPC TPK management and 25 IPC TPK operational teams as training and certification participants. The training is planned to be carried out for 5 days starting from 4 to 8 November 2024 at El Hotel, Kelapa Gading accompanied by Atrhaya Training Center.
The purpose and objectives of this event include improving supervision and control of dangerous goods ; implementing procedures in handling dangerous goods in accordance with established international and national provisions; developing and expanding business ethics; one of the efforts to protect the environment, improve operational efficiency; minimize/reduce the risks that occur when the wrong process is applied due to the lack of knowledge and skills of existing personnel. This activity is also in line with IPC TPK's efforts to realize High Performance Zero Accident .
"We plan to carry out this training and certification in 6 IPC TPK work areas. Hopefully, IPC TPK personnel have the knowledge and skills needed to handle these goods in accordance with international safety standards," concluded Yanuar.
Transporting dangerous goods by sea has its own challenges. Every step, from loading to transport and unloading, must follow strict safety protocols to prevent the risk of accidents, economic losses and environmental damage. The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code ( IMDG Code ) is a recognized global standard to ensure that dangerous goods are handled at sea in accordance with international regulations.
