JAKARTA (ISL News) - In an effort to improve the competence and professionalism of Human Resources (HR) in the maritime transportation sector, the Directorate General of Sea Transportation of the Ministry of Transportation held the Opening Ceremony of the Ship and Port Pilotage HR Training on October 14, 2024, at the Ministry of Transportation Office, Jakarta.
In his opening remarks, the Director General of Sea Transportation, Capt. Antoni Arif Priadi, said that Indonesia is an archipelagic country with two-thirds of its territory being ocean with different water characteristics, so that ship pilotage and port management activities have a very vital role.
"Ship pilotage and port management activities are two crucial aspects in our maritime world. Therefore, through this Ship Pilotage and Port Training, it can not only strengthen technical knowledge but also improve the ability to face challenges in the field," he explained.
Furthermore, I hope that all participants can take advantage of and use this opportunity as best as possible as a forum for discussion, asking questions, and sharing experiences with resource persons and fellow participants.
"That way, after participating in this training, all participants will be able to carry out ship and port pilotage activities in their respective workplaces properly and correctly so that they can provide a positive contribution to the development of human resources in the Indonesian maritime transportation sector," he said.
It is known that previously the Director General of Sea Transportation has set a temporary moratorium/postponement policy for 5 (five) months in the Implementation of Level II, Level I and Deep Sea Pilot Training. This was done with the aim of providing time for the Directorate General of Sea Transportation to evaluate, improve, and refine related regulations in an effort to improve the quality of the implementation of Ship Pilot HR Training.
"Alhamdulillah, the improvement of regulations and standardization of the implementation of Diklat has been carried out and currently the moratorium policy has been revoked. Of course, I also hope that the regulations and standards are implemented with full commitment by all related parties, so that it is hoped that the implementation of Diklat in the future can truly correlate and have significant implications for the creation of international standard Indonesian Scouts that are able to compete globally in order to realize the safety and security of shipping and protection of the maritime environment," he concluded.
For information, the training that was symbolically opened today consists of Level II and Level I Pilot Training organized by the Marine Transportation Education and Training Center (BP2TL) and Type B Port Training organized by the Semarang Maritime Polytechnic (PIP).
