SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya (TPS) received a working visit from Balkis Kusumawati, Assistant Deputy for Maritime and Air Connectivity at the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development of the Republic of Indonesia, on Tuesday (20/10). The visit was part of a field review activity related to the development of Tanjung Perak Port connectivity in order to oversee strategic issues in the national transportation and logistics sector.
The focus of the review included the readiness of the port area to support the implementation of the Zero ODOL policy in 2027, strengthening the connectivity of the railway network to the port area, and increasing intermodal integration to support national logistics efficiency.
The visit provided an opportunity to review the implementation of rail-based freight connectivity in the Tanjung Perak Port area, which has been integrated with the Surabaya Container Terminal services. During the visit, TPS explained the development of multimodal services that support integration between transportation modes to improve supply chain efficiency, streamline goods distribution, and reduce freight traffic congestion on highways.
In addition to inspecting the terminal's operational facilities, the delegation from the Coordinating Ministry for Infrastructure and Regional Development also received an overview of various efforts undertaken by stakeholders in the Tanjung Perak Port area to improve connectivity and logistics efficiency. Strengthening integration between sea and rail transportation is considered a strategic step to support the smooth flow of goods, increase port competitiveness, and strengthen the national logistics system.
President Director of PT Terminal Petikemas Surabaya, Ali Sodikin, expressed his appreciation for the government's attention to developing connectivity and efficiency of the national logistics system in the Tanjung Perak Port area.
"We greatly appreciate the government's attention to efforts to strengthen connectivity and efficiency of the national logistics system in the Tanjung Perak Port area. The development of intermodal connectivity, including the integration of rail services with the port, is a strategic step to support the smooth flow of goods, increase supply chain efficiency, and strengthen Indonesia's logistics competitiveness. As part of the Tanjung Perak Port ecosystem, TPS is ready to support collaboration between all stakeholders to realize a logistics system that is increasingly integrated, reliable, and sustainable," said Ali Sodikin.
Ali Sodikin further stated that strengthening national logistics requires close synergy between regulators, port operators, terminal operators, transportation service providers, and all supply chain actors. He noted that the Tanjung Perak Port area plays a strategic role as one of Indonesia's main trade gateways, thus fostering connectivity development, both by road and rail, to support the smooth distribution of goods to and from various regions in Indonesia.
Through strong collaboration between the government, Pelindo Group, terminal operators, and all stakeholders, the Tanjung Perak Port area is expected to become increasingly prepared to become an integrated and efficient logistics hub. This strengthened connectivity aligns with the government's agenda to support the implementation of Zero ODOL 2027, reduce national logistics costs, and increase Indonesia's competitiveness at the regional and global levels.
