PALEMBANG (ISL News) - Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang continues to strengthen its commitment to supporting community empowerment through its Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program. This commitment was realized through the 2026 Pelindo Inspirational Friends Program assistance to the Movement for the Welfare of the Deaf in Indonesia (GERKATIN) in Palembang City.
The assistance provided includes mobile phone repair training, three months of mentoring, and goods to support mobile phone repair businesses, with Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang providing a total of Rp 49,999,900 in assistance. The Pelindo Inspirational Friend program is designed not only to provide assistance but also to improve skills and open business opportunities for beneficiaries. Through the training and mentoring provided, deaf individuals are expected to acquire practical skills that can be developed into productive businesses, thereby increasing economic independence.
General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, Darmawi, said that Pelindo's TJSL program is not only oriented towards providing assistance, but also towards efforts to create sustainable benefits for the community.
"Through the Pelindo Inspirational Friends Program, we want to provide more than just assistance. We hope the cellphone repair skills acquired through training and mentoring will equip our deaf friends to develop businesses and become more economically independent," said Darmawi.
He added that Pelindo will continue to strive to present TJSL programs that have a real impact and answer the needs of the community around the company's operational areas.
The implementation of the Pelindo Inspirational Friends Program also received support from the Palembang City Government. The event was attended by Yudi Setiawan, Head of the Social Empowerment Division of the Palembang City Social Services Office, and Tri Rosfianti, Head of the Institutional and Manpower Division of the Palembang City Manpower Office.
Through collaboration between the business world, government, and the community, Pelindo's Inspirational Friends Program is expected to be part of the effort to create an inclusive environment, while opening up wider space for deaf people to develop their potential and skills.
