CILEGON BANTEN (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 Banten continues to strengthen its commitment to providing benefits to communities around the company's operational areas, one of which is through support for education and youth development.
This commitment was demonstrated through the distribution of facilities and infrastructure to support extracurricular journalism activities to SMA Negeri 1 Cilegon on Tuesday (October 6). The assistance, which included cameras, microphones, and other supporting equipment, is part of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten's Social and Environmental Responsibility (TJSL) program.
The aid distribution took place in conjunction with the 2026 Digital Journalism Bootcamp, organized by Banten Raya and supported by Pelindo Regional 2 Banten. The program provided students with knowledge and skills in journalism, videography, and the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in digital content production.
Commercial Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten, Endin Oktaviana, said that as part of a state-owned enterprise that is present and growing with the people of Banten, Pelindo not only plays a role in providing port services and supporting logistics connectivity, but is also committed to continuing to provide benefits to the communities around the company's operational areas.
"One way we demonstrate this commitment is through our support for the 2026 Digital Journalism Bootcamp held today. In addition to supporting the training, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten also provided infrastructure, including cameras and other supporting equipment, to support extracurricular journalism activities at SMA Negeri 1 Cilegon," said Endin.
He hopes that this assistance will not only be a facility, but can truly be used as a means of learning, practicing, and creating works for students.
According to Endin, the development of digital technology, including the use of AI, is opening up wider opportunities for the younger generation to create. However, the ability to use this technology must go hand in hand with an understanding of ethics and responsibility in producing and disseminating information.
"AI is no longer just an innovation, but has become part of technological developments that resonate with the younger generation. Therefore, we hope that students will not only develop the skills to utilize it, but also prioritize ethics and use it to produce positive and useful work and content," he added.
The aid was symbolically handed over by Endin Oktaviana to Agus Pancasusila, Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Cilegon. On the same occasion, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten also presented souvenirs, represented by Lukman Salamudin, Junior Manager of Human Resources and General Affairs of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten.
The principal of SMA Negeri 1 Cilegon, Agus Pancasusila, expressed his appreciation for the support of Pelindo Regional 2 Banten for the development of journalism activities at the school.
"We hope this activity can continue to improve education at SMA Negeri 1 Kota Cilegon, particularly in journalism. This journalism activity is very beneficial, as it doesn't necessarily occur in the classroom, and this material provides students with additional insight," he said.
Through the TJSL program in the education sector, Pelindo Regional 2 Banten continues to encourage the creation of learning spaces and skills development for the younger generation, while strengthening synergies with communities and educational institutions around the company's operational areas.
