JAKARTA (ISL News) - IPC Container Terminal (IPC TPK) officially welcomed the new Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) Seahorse service at Terminal 3, Tanjung Priok Port. This direct call service, serving the Jakarta-Shekou (China)-Laem Chabang (Thailand) route, is a significant milestone in efforts to streamline logistics flows and expand the reach of national export-import markets in East and Southeast Asia.
"We enthusiastically welcome the opening of the MSC Seahorse service as a concrete manifestation of IPC TPK's commitment to improving national logistics competitiveness. This is a strategic step for IPC TPK to continue accommodating global market needs by providing fast, reliable, and internationally standardized port services," said Yanuar Evyanto, Acting Director of Commercial & Business Development at IPC TPK.
The maiden voyage of this route was marked by the berthing of the MV MSC Elizabeth III, a Liberian-flagged vessel with a length overall (LOA) of 210 meters and a beam of 30 meters. The vessel docked at Terminal 3 on October 12, 2026, at 8:00 PM WIB and successfully recorded high productivity by unloading and loading 483 container boxes. After the operational process was completed efficiently, the ship then departed to continue its voyage on October 13, 2026, at 9:30 AM WIB.
The opening of this route connecting Indonesia, China, and Thailand is crucial for strengthening the regional economy, particularly in supporting food, energy, and industrial security. China is Indonesia's primary export partner for energy commodities, while Thailand plays a vital role as an agricultural hub for regional food stability. The connectivity of these three countries also ensures accelerated logistics flows for raw materials and finished products, which are crucial for strengthening the Indonesian industrial supply chain ecosystem on the global stage, a development currently being accelerated by the government.
"This new route service is not just an ordinary operational expansion, but rather a maritime bridge that strengthens strategic synergy between countries. We are very optimistic that the MSC Seahorse service, supported by the reliability of IPC TPK facilities, will promote food security, smooth energy distribution, and accelerate the integration of the domestic industrial supply chain on the global stage," Yanuar concluded.
