JAKARTA (ISL News) - PT Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) Regional 2 recorded positive operational performance until the period of May 2026. Growth occurred in almost all key indicators, starting from the flow of non-containerized goods, containers, to passengers, which generally succeeded in exceeding the company's targets and achievements in the same period the previous year.
Based on operational data up to May 2026, the flow of non-containerized goods in the Pelindo Regional 2 and its subsidiaries reached growth of 16.17 percent compared to the same period in 2025, and 9.10 percent above the RKAP target.
This growth was supported by increased loading and unloading activity at several branches, including Pontianak, Panjang, Cirebon, and Teluk Bayur. The dominant commodities include crude palm oil (CPO), coal, fertilizer, industrial raw materials, and export and import commodities for industrial and livestock needs.
Meanwhile, container traffic also showed a positive trend. As of May 2026, container volume grew 8.14 percent compared to the same period last year, 1.80 percent above the RKAP target.
This performance was driven by increased container ship visits, the opening of new services, and growth in export and import activities at a number of terminals managed by Pelindo Regional 2.
In the passenger service sector, Pelindo Regional 2 recorded higher growth. Passenger numbers increased 18.65 percent through May 2026 compared to the same period last year, reaching 20.33 percent above the RKAP target.
This increase was supported by, among other things, high public mobility during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr Transportation period, including at ports serving homecoming and return transportation in the Pelindo Regional 2 work area.
In terms of ship services, performance also showed significant improvement. The actual Waiting Time for Pilot (WTP) at the Tanjung Priok Branch was recorded at 0.22 hours, exceeding the RKAP target of 0.50 hours, reflecting the effectiveness of operational planning and the readiness of ship pilotage services.
Executive Director 2 of Pelindo Regional 2, Budi Prasetio, said that this achievement demonstrates the resilience of the port sector as well as the effectiveness of the operational transformation that the company continues to undertake.
"This positive performance through May 2026 is an indicator that logistics and trade activity in Pelindo Regional 2's working area continues to grow. The increased flow of goods, containers, and passengers reflects the port's increasingly strong role as a driver of connectivity and economic growth," Budi said in a written statement on Monday (June 22, 2026).
According to him, this achievement cannot be separated from the synergy between Pelindo, regulators, service users, logistics operators, and all stakeholders in the maritime sector.
"We continue to focus on maintaining service reliability, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening digitalization and business process integration so that ports can provide faster, safer, and more competitive services," he added.
Budi emphasized that Pelindo Regional 2 will continue to encourage performance improvements across all branches to support the smooth flow of national logistics and strengthen Indonesia's competitiveness as a maritime nation.
"We are optimistic that this growth trend can be maintained until the end of the year. Ports must be able to enable regional and national economic growth through increasingly high-quality services that meet global standards," he concluded.
