Priok, Directorate General of Sea Transportation, Ministry of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia (Ditjen HUBLA), carried out an emergency medical evacuation (medevac) for a Crew Member (ABK) from the MT. CELYN tanker who experienced an emergency illness while the ship was at the PT. Karya Putra Berkah (KPB) Pier, Bojonegara, Banten, on Sunday (8/3).

The evacuation was carried out by the patrol vessel KN. GOLOK – P.206 and KN. KUJANG – P.201 after receiving information that a crew member was experiencing a medical emergency on board.

The evacuated crew member was identified as Badul (25 years old), who served as second officer on the MT. CELYN. During the evacuation, the victim experienced severe abdominal pain. He was conscious but appeared weak and groaned in pain, requiring emergency medical treatment.

Following up on the report, an evacuation team from the Marine and Fisheries Service (KPLP) immediately moved towards the ship using the Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) KN. GOLOK with evacuation team personnel.

The team safely evacuated the victim from the ship and then transported him to land for initial medical treatment at the Rahma Bojonegara Clinic. After receiving an initial examination, the victim was referred to Tonggak Husada Hospital in Cilegon for further medical treatment.

Head of the Class I Tanjung Priok Sea and Coast Guard Base (PLP/KPLP), Fourmansyah, SH, MM, MH, said that the readiness of KPLP elements in responding to emergency conditions at sea is part of the government's commitment to ensuring shipping safety.

"KPLP is always ready to respond quickly to any emergency at sea. Safety of navigation and protection of crew members are our top priorities. This evacuation operation represents a concrete example of humanitarian service at sea," said Fourmansyah.

He added that the success of this operation also demonstrated the readiness of the KPLP fleet and personnel in supporting the safety and security of shipping activities in Indonesian waters.

The medical evacuation operation proceeded safely and smoothly thanks to good coordination between the KPLP patrol boat, the ship's crew, and medical personnel on land.

The Directorate General of Sea Transportation through the Tanjung Priok Class I PLP Base will continue to increase the readiness of its patrol fleet and personnel to ensure shipping safety and the protection of sailors in Indonesian waters. (MTH).
