PALEMBANG (ISL News) - Pelindo Group Regional 2 Palembang in collaboration with the K3 Training and Consulting Services Company PT Kia Makmore Lestari held an Emergency Response Drill for Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (K3L) with the scenario of handling Dangerous Goods (DG) Explosions and B3 Waste Spills,
This activity was attended by internal participants from subsidiaries of Pelindo Group Regional 2 Palembang, which aims to ensure that every Pelindo employee understands the fast, precise, and measurable procedures in dealing with potential emergencies in the Boom Baru Port area of Palembang.
In his remarks, the General Manager of Pelindo Regional 2 Palembang, represented by the Business Compliance Manager, Iwan Sanjaya, said, "This K3L emergency response drill must be implemented in each company. This is to see the level of skill, responsiveness, and speed of each appointed personnel in handling emergency incidents. Well, we see here the theme is handling DG explosions and B3 waste spills." He said.
This drill featured a resource person from the Palembang City Fire Department who presented on explosion response techniques, initial extinguishing, and procedures for securing areas affected by hazardous materials. This material provided a thorough understanding of the swift and appropriate actions required when facing a hazardous materials incident.
The activity was also strengthened by explanations from the Palembang Port Hospital which provided material related to handling medical emergencies, starting from handling burn victims, trauma due to explosions, to safe medical evacuation procedures in accordance with port hospital standards.
Additionally, a technical session on hazardous waste spill management was delivered by Annisa Tasya Hutagalung of PT Kia Makmore Lestari, a vendor and consultant. The material covered spill control procedures, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and mitigation measures to minimize environmental impact.
This drill demonstrates Pelindo Group Regional 2 Palembang's commitment to ensuring that K3L implementation meets standards and enhances the rapid response capabilities of all employees in potential emergencies. Pelindo hopes this activity will provide lasting benefits in maintaining safety, security, and environmental sustainability in the port's operational area.
