
SURABAYA (ISL News) - The Tanjung Perak Class II Maritime and Shipping Surveillance Base (PLP) responded quickly to information that KLM AYTA CK 2 had lost contact by deploying the KN. Grantin P. 211 to carry out Disaster Relief and Search and Rescue Operations.
KN. Grantin P. 211, which had been carrying out patrols to monitor shipping safety and security in Probolinggo waters, was deployed in the Disaster Assistance & SAR operation to search for KLM. AYTA CK 2, which was sailing from Bawean Port to Tanjung Pakis Port, Brondong, Lamongan and lost contact with suspected engine trouble in the Java Sea.
Chronology of the incident on Wednesday (27/8) at 16.20 LT. PLP Class II Tanjung Perak Base received information that contact with the KLM ship AYTA CK 2 had been lost, reported since 26 August 2025 after departing from Bawean Port with the destination of Tanjung Pakis Port.
From the latest information obtained, KLM. AYTA CK 2 was seen by KLM. Rajawali at 18 NM after leaving Bawean towards Tanjung Pakis and KLM. Rajawali had given a spotlight and HT call to KLM. AYTA CK 2 but there was no response. Based on this information, the Tanjung Perak Class II PLP Base immediately deployed KN. Grantin P. 211 to carry out Disaster Relief & SAR Operations.
On Thursday (28/8), at around 08.00 LT, KLM. AYTA CK 2 was found with its crew safe and towed by tugboat AHTS KASUARI. Upon arrival at the scene, KN. Grantin P. 211 immediately towed the KLM. AYTA CK 2 and took it to Sluke Port, Rembang.
After receiving information that KLM. AYTA CK 2 lost contact on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, we immediately coordinated with KSOP Class III Tanjung Pakis, UPP Class III Bawean, UPP Class III Rembang, VTS Surabaya and SAR Office Type A Surabaya.
"After coordination, we ordered the KN. Grantin P. 211 to carry out a Disaster Relief & Search and Rescue Operation to search for the ship. Thank God, on Thursday at 08.00 LT, the ship was finally found safely and successfully evacuated, then towed by KN. Grantin P. 211 to Sluke Port, Rembang," said Rusmanu, Head of the Class II Tanjung Perak PLP Base.
KN. Grantin P. 211 and KLM. AYTA CK 2 were reported to have arrived safely at Sluke Port, Rembang on Friday, August 29, 2025 at 09.30 LT.
