
JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) – IACS is an abbreviation of the International Association of Classification Societies, an International Association of Classification Societies founded in 1968.
IACS is a non-profit organization that aims to improve safety standards at sea and prevent pollution of the marine environment.
IACS Establishes minimum technical requirements for the design, construction, maintenance and survey of ships.
IACS Reviews, promotes and develops minimum technical requirements related to other marine facilities
In its work dedicated to safe ships and clean seas, IACS makes a unique contribution to maritime safety and regulation through technical support, compliance verification, and research and development. Over 90% of the world's cargo is covered by the design, construction and life-cycle compliance rules and standards established by the twelve Member Societies.
The purpose of the Classification Society (“LSM”) is to provide classification, mandatory certification and services as a Recognized Organization acting on behalf of the flag Administration, and assistance to the maritime industry and regulatory bodies in relation to maritime safety and pollution prevention, based on accumulated maritime knowledge and technology.
