JAKARTA INDONESIA (ISL News) - In order to commemorate National Mother's Day, PT Pelabuhan Tanjung Priok (PTP Nonpetikemas) held a training entitled "Innovation of Healthy Food Based on Fish and Seaweed for Healthy and Prosperous Families" on December 20, 2024. The training with the theme Empowered Women, Advanced Indonesia is a real manifestation of the company's commitment to empowering women as well as efforts to educate about healthy food and support to realize economic independence for the community around the Port's operations.
This activity was attended by 30 wives of fishermen from Kampung Nelayan RW 08 Kalibaru who have abundant marine biota natural resources. However, it turns out that they do not yet understand the benefits of marine biota and how to process it.
Kalibaru Village Head Rusmin appreciated PTP Nonpetikemas' steps in supporting the community. "There are around 80 stunted children in Kalibaru and we must solve this problem together, not only by the government but also by state-owned companies, private companies, and the community. Pelindo Group has always been the pride of Tanjung Priok. I hope this good relationship will continue for the common good," he said.
The training was opened by the Chairperson of the PTP Nonpetikemas Employee Wives Association (PIP), Winda Indra, by symbolically wearing aprons to participants. In her speech, she emphasized the importance of the role of mothers as pillars of the family and society and the company's commitment to supporting empowerment that provides real benefits.
The training presented an expert resource person, Purwangi Pahrurodji, who provided an understanding of nutrition, the benefits of marine life, and processing techniques. Participants practiced making products such as mocaf flour, seaweed sticks, seaweed drink, fish nuggets, and collagen.
Senior Manager of Corporate Secretary of PTP Nonpetikemas, Fiona Sari Utami, hopes that the products from this training can be an alternative to healthy food as well as a business opportunity. "This activity not only increases knowledge about the benefits of marine biota, but also strengthens the role of women in the family and society," explained Fiona.
Through this training, the community can optimize the use of marine biota. The participants felt very grateful to be able to get the opportunity to practice directly making processed fish and seaweed products.
"Until now, I didn't know that many parts of fish could be used, so I just threw them away. Only after participating in this training did I learn that fish scales can be used for collagen and seaweed can also be processed into herbal medicine that is good for health. I am very happy and this activity is very directly beneficial for us," said Hasnati, one of the training participants.
This activity is a real manifestation of PTP Nonpetikemas' concern for the empowerment of women and maritime communities, while also supporting SDGs goals such as poverty eradication, good health, and gender equality.
