The activity was attended by the Head of the Tanjung Perak Main Harbormaster and Port Authority (KSOP) Agustinus Maun, the Main Director of TPS Ali Sodikin, representatives of Pelindo Container Terminal (PTP), the Chairman of the Stevedoring and Unloading Workers Cooperative (TKBM), as well as participants consisting of Stevedoring and Unloading Workers (TKBM), Ships Operator Assistant (SOA), Wharf Operator Assistant (WOA), and Assistant Manager of Dock Services who are the front line in terminal operations.
The Safety Stand Down provides a shared forum for reflection, sharing lessons learned, identifying operational risks, and strengthening everyone's commitment to implementing a work safety culture. The event begins with a safety induction, welcoming remarks from stakeholders, followed by a safety discussion, a question-and-answer session, and the reading of a joint safety commitment.
TPS President Director, Ali Sodikin, emphasized that occupational safety is the main foundation in maintaining the continuity of safe, reliable, and productive terminal operations.
"Safety must be a living culture in every work activity, not just adherence to procedures. Through this Safety Stand Down, we want to remind everyone that every individual has a vital role in creating a safe work environment. No job is so urgent that it requires neglecting safety. Therefore, commitment to safety must start with ourselves and be realized in every action in the field," said Ali Sodikin.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority (KSOP), Agustinus Maun, appreciated the TPS initiative which consistently involved all stakeholders in efforts to improve safety culture in the port area.
"Safety is a shared responsibility of all maritime personnel. Collaboration between terminal operators, regulators, workers, and partners is key to creating a safe port environment that complies with applicable regulations. We hope that the commitment established through this Safety Stand Down can be effectively implemented in daily operational activities to minimize the risk of workplace accidents," said Agustinus Maun.
In the main session, participants discussed various safety issues encountered in daily operational activities, including identifying potential hazards, risk mitigation measures, and opportunities for continuous improvement. This session also provided a forum for participants to share their concerns and input on occupational safety aspects to support the creation of a safer work environment.
In closing, all participants stated their Safety Commitment as a form of shared commitment to always prioritize safety in every work activity and support the creation of a zero accident culture in the TPS environment.
Through the Safety Stand Down activity, TPS hopes that awareness and concern for occupational safety will become more deeply rooted in all workers and partners, thereby supporting safe and productive terminal operations and providing the best service for service users and all stakeholders in the port environment. This commitment to safety culture is not only realized through this activity, but also continues to be implemented sustainably in every TPS operational service delivery activity to ensure safe, reliable, and productive work processes for workers, service users, and all stakeholders.
