SURABAYA (ISL News) - PT Terminal Teluk Lamong (TTL) received a visit from the Minister of Transportation's Expert Staff for Technology and Energy, Dr. Capt. Antoni Arif Priadi, M.Sc., on Thursday (27/8). The working visit was conducted to directly review the implementation of the Green Port concept, energy efficiency, digitalization, and environmental management at TTL as part of an effort to support the strategic program of the Government of the Republic of Indonesia towards Net Zero Emission (NZE) by 2060.
During the visit, Antoni reviewed the implementation of electrification of container loading and unloading equipment at the dock and stacking yard. He also appreciated TTL's innovative collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) to enrich biodiversity and map marine life around the terminal's waters.
Antoni stated that the use of technology and the transition to environmentally friendly energy in terminal infrastructure and superstructure are important foundations for realizing green and sustainable port operations.
"TTL's active alignment of operational activities with the Ministry of Transportation's strategic policies is an important part of supporting the acceleration of achieving the 2060 Net Zero Emission target. The use of environmentally friendly energy, accompanied by collaborative research on coastal ecosystems with BRIN, is concrete evidence of TTL's commitment to becoming a modern and sustainable Green Port," said Antoni.
The implementation of the Green Port concept at Teluk Lamong Terminal is also strengthened by the provision of a Shore Connection facility, a source of onshore electricity for docked vessels. This facility allows vessels to reduce the use of auxiliary engines while at the dock, thereby reducing exhaust emissions and the terminal's carbon footprint.
In terms of environmental management, TTL operates an independent Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). Treated domestic wastewater is recycled, including for plant watering. Furthermore, TTL has utilized Solar Power Plants (PLTS) as a source of New and Renewable Energy (NRE) in several facilities and buildings within the terminal area.
Head of the Supervision and Enforcement Division of the Tanjung Perak Main Port Authority (KSOP), Arizal Hendrawan, M.Sc., who also accompanied the visit, emphasized the regulator's support for the development of safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly port operations.
"The Tanjung Perak Main Operations Unit (KSOP) consistently supports the use of environmentally friendly energy and various innovation programs to preserve the environment and improve operational quality at the Teluk Lamong Terminal," Arizal emphasized.
The President Director of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong emphasized that the transformation towards a Green Port is part of the company's strategy to build increasingly efficient, modern, and sustainable terminal operations.
"TTL continues to promote the use of technology, equipment electrification, the use of environmentally friendly energy, and the strengthening of environmental management as part of the company's operational transformation. We believe that operational excellence and sustainability must go hand in hand to support the achievement of the 2060 Net Zero Emission target," he said.
During the visit, Senior Manager of Management Systems and HSSE of PT Terminal Teluk Lamong, Anang Januriandoko, also provided a technical presentation regarding the implementation of Green Port, equipment electrification, energy efficiency, and various environmental management programs that have been implemented by TTL.
The use of electrical energy in container loading and unloading equipment, both at the dock and in the stacking yard, is one of TTL's main strategies in reducing the carbon footprint of operational activities while increasing energy efficiency in a sustainable manner.
These various implementations emphasize TTL's commitment that the application of ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) principles, the achievement of operational excellence, and support for the Net Zero Emission target can go hand in hand to realize increasingly efficient, modern, and sustainable terminal operations.
